Lomas de Lachay

October 1998

Trip Rating: 3/5

The Lomas de Lachay didn't receive the low rating because of the place, they received the low rating because it is hard to get  there.   Without your own car, which is hard to get in Peru, it is very hard to get there, and once you arrive, you have to walk a long ways through the desert.    Once you are there the Lomas are very cool.   They are filled with an abundance of bird life, flowers, trees, most of the things that you don't see in Peru!    When we went it was a very foggy day, which in and of itself was pretty cool.

On the way to the Lomas, which are 3 hours north of Lima by bus, we went through a National Police control point.    As the policeman got on the bus, he spotted us, and came straight for us.   We were 3 gringos and a Peruvian sitting on the last row of the bus.    He asked 2 of us for our passports and then went on.   Our third friend who forgot his passport was really sweating it, but the Lord answered his prayers and for some reason he wasn't asked to see his passport.
