Puno, Peru

1.5/5(A necessary evil!)

I hate Puno.   I hate Puno with a passion.   It is a depressing place to be.  This might have something to do with the fact that I was sick vomiting and tending to almost constant diarrhea.   BUT, Puno is a necessary evil.   Puno is the gateway to Sillustani and Lake Titicaca with its Floating Islands of Uros.   Puno is also close to Juliaca with its very cheap furs.   We got to Puno  in time for the famous Monday fur market in Juliaca, but alas there was a strike that day and there was no travel to or from Juliaca.   I really hate the city of Puno though.

The black and white photos below are of an Adventist missionary who was a nurse in Puno circa 1940.  These photos provide a look back in time to a younger Puno.   These photos came from my father's baby book.   The woman pictured is Elsie Reynolds Pritchart.   She attended SWAU.
